What is Living Map Australia?

Living Map Australia is another one of TWOUDIA's Information Deployment Concepts. The idea is to provide a dynamic and interactive information overlay on maps.

When information is visualised, it becomes easier for users to absorb and understand the information. Living Map Australia demonstrates the basic capability of visualising specific information in regards to geographical locations.

How do I navigate through the Demo?

  1. Simply navigate through the map like any other online map. Or click on the Search Icon and type in a location (currently the demo only support 7 locations: Adelaide, Brisbane, Darwin, Gold Coast, Hobart, Newcastle, Perth and Sydney).
  2. Click on the Blue Marker in the map to see information about the marked location.
  3. Information panel will pop out and display information about the selected location.
  4. Clicking icons aligned vertically on the left in the Information Panel will display more categorised information sets.

How and Why is the Living Map Australia concept significant?

Living Map Australia demonstrates what visualising information can do to improve user experience of certain websites. A few examples are:

  1. Real Estate oriented website that demonstrates housing data such as price, rent, safety, transport, insurance and cost by suburb or by street. All this can be visualised and easily navigated and compared on an interactive map.
  2. News website that displays news as you browse and search through maps.
  3. Statistical Database that are visualised on map to easily compare and analyse multiple regions.
  4. Social Media trends and mapping. e.g. a photography social media mapping out locations, angles, time of certain photos visualised and overlayed on maps.
